29. City to Surf Start. I used to run in the City to Surf until my knees packed in. But I remember the excitement of the start and the rush of adrenaline that gets you up that first hill. And how your lungs feel like bursting at the top and you haven’t even run one km yet! I tried to include some of the red flowers of the African Coral tree in the shot because they always remind me of early spring in South Africa, but they got lost in the exposure.
30. “Monday Night Double at the Luna”. It was Monday night, so I thought that this was an appropriate shot. I used a flash, plus an extended exposure as the light was fading. As it turned out, I overexposed the shot and you can’t see the sign advertising the films. Only when I got home did I that I should have taken a double exposure, rather than a single, long exposure. That would be have been a better play on words. Curses.
31. This shot was originally called “Tiger Tiger – Clare”, but she didn’t come out in the exposure, thanks to the overexposure of the frame before, so the shot is now called “Tiger Tiger – where is Clare?”. Will have to try again sometime…
32. “Man in Black @ the Regal”. September 1st – The first Day of Spring!. I had planned to take a photograph of flowers in celebration. But I didn’t find any flowers in bloom when I went out at lunchtime. So in the end I photographed the Regal Theatre when we went to see Tex Perkins in “The Man in Black”. Need to get the lyrics to “Hurt”.
33. “Women in Black @ Wesley”. The day almost felt like Spring. I like the contrast between the Women in Black holding at peaceful protest at Wesley Cathedral and the show from the previous night, so I asked the women if I could take their photograph.
